An online visit still
has a Florida check.

Ask which license or registration lets the person treat you while you are in Florida.

A clinician is a doctor, nurse or other health professional who assesses or treats you.

Check the record for the person treating you.

Licensed in Florida

The ordinary license record.

As of September 2026, a person with a current Florida health license can offer online care here without extra online-care registration.

Clinician from another state

The online-care register.

As of September 2026, a clinician from another state can register for Florida online care if their license is active and has no restrictions. They must meet the other registration conditions too.

A home-state license and a Florida telehealth registration are different records. Ask which applies to the visit.

What that record can show.

As of September 2026, Florida’s online-care register lists the person’s license from their own state and past action by licensing boards.

It also gives details of their insurance for claims that their care harmed a patient.

This is the person’s insurance for problems with their work. It is separate from your health insurance that pays for a visit.

A clinician registered this way must clearly link to the Florida record from their website.

As of September 2026, this registration does not allow a Florida office or in-person care here.

Ask about the conversation, too.

Medical-board guidance says treatment based only on a menu picked by the patient falls short of the care standard.

That guidance says patients also need a way to ask the clinician their own questions.

The Federation of State Medical Boards brings the boards together. Its guidance describes the care process. Florida’s own rules govern care here.
